Sehr schöne Idee von “stereogum“: In Anlehnung an die Filmchen mit den Verstoebenen des Jahres, die beiden Oscar-Verleihungen immer gezeigt werden, ahben sie ein paar Bilder zu Trändendrüsen-Musik zusammengestellt – mit den Bands, die sich 2008 aufgelöst haben. U.a. mit dabei: The Long Blondes, Phantom Planet, Dirty Pretty Things, Wolfmother und Velvet Revolver:

Nach den nostalgischen Kommentaren von Michael muss ich jetzt auch nochmal was zu Chris Hülsbeck schreiben, dem meiner Meinung nach für alle Zeiten besten Komponisten von Computer- und Videospielmusiken. “Turrican” 1 bis 3, “X-Out”, “Apidya”, “Jim Power”, “R-Type”, “Katakis” und und und. Hülsbecks Musik hat ind en 80ern und 90ern eine ganze Generation von Game-Musiken geprägt und braucht sich selbst hinter Hollywood-Größen wie John Williams nicht zu verstecken.

Der Beweis für diese These ist nicht zuletzt das neue Hülsbeck-Album, das just am heutigen Tag geliefert wurde und sich nun zu all meinen anderen Hülsbeck-CDs gesellen darf. “Symphonic Shades” ist der Mitschnitt des gleichnamigen Kölner Konzerts vom August, bei dem ich leider nicht zugegen war. Das WDR-Rundfunkorchester hat dort insgesamt 15 Stücke aus Hülsbecks Werk meisterhaft umgesetzt. Gänsehaut von Track zu Track. Bestellen lässt sich die auf 1.000 Stück limitierte CD (noch) an dieser Stelle. Als Vorgeschmack kann man sich natürlich auch 12 der Stücke bei YouTube anschauen, bzw. anhören. Zu schauen gibt es da nämlich leider wenig. So wie hier beim “Turrican 2”-Theme:

Großartig-abgedrehte Chiptunes: Man nehme ein paar Radiohead-Songs und wandle sie so um, dass sie klingen, als kämen sie direkt aus dem C64. So wie diese Version von “paranoid android” zum Beispiel:

Die Liebste hat sich vorbildlicherweise in diesen Krisenzeiten ein neues Auto gekauft. Nötig geworden war das, weil mein treuer Gefährte nach seiner Lebensdauer von 13 Jahren immer mehr beschlossen hatte, zur Spardose zu werden, in die man viel zu viel Geld steckt, das man aber nicht mehr wieder bekommt. Auf das tolle kleine Auto jedenfalls freue ich mich – ich werde mein Leben als Beifahrer dann noch mehr genießen können und nicht nur nach rechts und nach vorn, sondern auch nach oben aus dem Fenster schauen können.

Und auch wenn ich mich auf den Kleinen freue: Rein nach den Werbespots, mit denen so ungefähr jeder Autokonzern gerade versucht, seine Lager zu räumen, hätte man einen Renault oder einen Volvo kaufen müssen. Denn: In beiden ist fabelhafte Musik zu hören und das müsste eigentlich unterstützt werden. Renault wirbt derzeit mit dem schon vom “Eurovision Song Contst” bekannten Song “divine” von Sebastien Tellier…
