Neuigkeiten von meiner Immer-noch-Lieblingsband Placebo:

“PLACEBO return with the release of a reworked version of ‘English Summer Rain’ through Hut Recordings on February 23rd. It is the fourth single to be lifted from their acclaimed fourth album, ‘Sleeping With Ghosts’, which has now sold over 1.1 million copies worldwide.

The single precedes the release of a full length DVD recorded at a sold out Bercy in Paris in front of 18,000 people. Entitled ‘Placebo – Soulmates Never Die – Live In Paris’, the DVD will be released March 8th. It includes additional documentary footage of the band on the road throughout 2003 as they undertook their mammoth world tour.”

Endlich also eine Placebo-Live-DVD. Natürlich ein Muss für Sammler. Eine interessante Aufgabe für Sammler hat die Band am 1. Dezember gestellt. Da gab es einen Gig in Anaheim/USA. Und das Besondere daran: Das gesamte Band-Equipment kam nicht rechtzeitig an. So lieh man sich Drums von Josh Homme, ein Piano vom veranstaltenden House of Blues und spielte ein 70-Minuten-Acoustic-Set. Sowas gab’s zwar schon ab und zu mal, Fans werden das legendär gute MCM-Café-Bootleg kennen. Das Besondere an diesem Auftritt in Anaheim war aber die Setlist:

Mehr Infos hab ich leider nicht. Aber ich gehe mal stark davon aus, dass mit “hurt” das nine-inch-nails-johnny-cash-stück gemeint ist und mit “mercedes benz” der legendäre janis-joplin-song. Und das würde bedeuten, dass Placebo bei diesem Gig gleich zwei Songs zum ersten Mal überhaupt live gespielt haben. Und während ich das aufschreibe, laufen in meinem Kopf diverse Stoßgebete, dass bitte bitte bitte irgendjemand einen Mitschnitt dieses Auftritts hat und ihn ins Netz stellt. Bisher leider nicht, aber ich gebe die Hoffnung nicht so schnell auf.
